The next 4 months of travelling

I’m about to embark on what will probably be one of the biggest adventures of my life: backpacking, solo, in South East Asia. Initially, I planned to take my laptop, and therefore be able to continue to write and post on this little corner of the Internet, which is one of my favourite hobbies. However, eventually, I had to face the reality – I wouldn’t be able to take my laptop with me!

I thought of investing in a tablet with a keyboard. But that would mean spending money that I can’t really then use during my travels. For this adventure to be possible, I had to quit my job, which means I no longer have a monthly income. I am also not getting income from any other sources. All the financing for this is coming from my many years of savings.

I also could not justify the investment. Writing indeed is one of my favourite things to do, but it is also true that I often need some time to digest the experiences I just had before putting “pen to paper”. I often take notes on my phone.

My laptop is also an almost 10-year-old Macbook, to which I have a great attachment, but let’s face it – it is heavy, it may break down at some point, and it is still valuable to be stolen. And I don’t want to risk that.

I cannot wait to come back here and write about all the places I will visit in the next few months. I will certainly be sharing photographs on Instagram, the social media platform we all love to hate, and yet can’t stop using.

If you fancy to see what I’m up to during these months, feel free to follow me there: @thewingedbone

In the meantime, happy travels to everyone and I hope everyone is having a good start to the year!

Love, Nic
